Baha-MANIA

We decided to name our page Baha-MANIA as opposed to Baha-EUM in honor of Homer who once said:

"Good things don't end with 'eum'. They end with 'mania'...or 'tarium.'"

We are staying at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

This was the view from our balcony.

You could also see the beach from our balcony.

The weather was perfect today! Cheryl took pictures of the family on the water slides (featuring a surprise celebrity encounter), at the beach, and also got pictures of Brian Parasailing and Greg on a WaveRunner.

Brent and Brooke played basketball while we worked out. Greg, Steven, and Brian enjoy the "Leap of Faith." Brent took a picture of the Tyler family from afar. Brian on the "Leap of Faith" water slide. Greg and Brian race on "The Challenger." The family poses in front of "The Challenger."

Brooke said, "Pick me up...Like Jenny!" Brian and Brent at lunch. Greg, Cheryl, and Brooke at lunch. There were tanks throughout the resorts with sharks and other sea life.

The family hangs out on the "Lazy River." Greg rides a WaveRunner. We hung out on the beach while Greg rode the WaveRunner.

Brian gets put in a harness. Brian waits his turn to go parasailing. Here I go!!!! Brian said it was very quiet up in the sky and it felt like he was moving very slowly. He landed pretty smoothly and didn't get wet at all. Brian is back on the boat with his Mom, Brent, and Brooke.

The January 19, 2004 issue of Us Weekly had a picture that looked pretty familiar:

The boys go SCUBA diving and the girls go on a Dolphin Encounter. Some of you may be amazed at Brooke's interaction with Sean the Dolphin considering her fear of just about every other animal on the planet :-)

The boys had about 20 minutes of instruction and about 45 minutes worth of SCUBA time.

Brooke and I enjoyed a 15 minute boat ride to Blue Lagoon Island. Brooke and I as Brooke gets a kiss from Sean the Dolphin. Brooke gets ready to hug Sean. Yep...It's amazing...Brooke won't go near dogs but here she is feeding Sean a fish. Brooke dances with Sean.

Guys before the dive. After about an 20 minutes of instruction, the boys went for a dive. Greg with his trusty waterproof camera. Brent had a little trouble getting back down in the water after going up to the surface.

We went to church at the New Providence LDS Branch. We had to take a taxi to church but were able to hitch a ride home in a limo driven by a new convert of the church (he gives FREE limo rides to and from church as a service). There are also other pictures from church. Read the captions on each picture for more information.

Later that evening, we attended a comedy juggling performance by Mark Nizer at the resort.

We also ate at the family's favorite buffet: The Marketplace.

We missed breakfast at the resort so we asked our cabbie to drive through Wendy's. Brian enjoyed his Sabbath Day Breakfast--a drink from Wendy's. A counselor in the District Presidency taught Sunday School. Brian and Brent with Greg right before they passed the Sacrament in the Bahamas. Here we are outside the New Providence LDS Branch on Nassau Island.

Some local kids helped open the coconut Brent found behind the church. Greg helps open the coconut (where's Scott's coconut opener when you need it?). Mmmmm...Fresh coconut. Brent, Brooke, and Brian in the limo. Greg took a pic of us with our limo driver.

We enjoyed a free juggling performance at the resort. Brooke and I picked up the tickets the night before. Before the show. Greg and Brent enjoy some popcorn before the show. Mark started off juggling a few balls. He had help from the audience as he prepared to juggle on a unicycle. His last juggling trick involved a bowling ball, flaming torch, and an electric knife.

The Marketplace is the home of our favorite Atlantis buffet. The reason they love this place...CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. Brooke ate sushi so she wouldn't have to go on "The Leap of Faith" waterslide. Brian's new football weight-gaining program--LOTS of dessert.

It was too cold and windy to swim, but everyone decided to lay out anyway (notice Brent under his towel). We also went to the putting course but didn't have our camera (sorry!).

The family tries to soak up some sun. Brooke loves the sand! Our beach boy. Greg and Brent. Brent burries Brooke ALIVE.

We rode all the water slides on Friday. I didn't take our camera because we were in the water the whole day. I will take some pictures of the kids on the slides later in the trip.

We arrived at Paradise Island after dark--Here are some pictures from our exploration:

Merry Christmas from the Bahamas! We posed in front of the Atlantis Royal Tower at night. Brian in front of one of many fish tanks at Atlantis. One really BIG fish! Brooke and Cheryl in a chair in the Royal Tower. The boys in the chair. How about some Christmas ping-pong?
