Santa Fe Rally for Schools
February 9, 2006

My small group of community members, in conjunction with Governor Richardson's office, organized a rally during the legislative session to call attention to overcrowding in New Mexico Schools. A lobbyist bought t-shirts for everyone. Brent was asked to bring his sign and stand in the front row.

We ended up getting $90 million of a state surplus for schools (as opposed to the $290 million we needed). Our state senators are the ones who lowered the amount. A link to the news story about our setback can be found here.

The Governor's office had a banner ready for the rally.

Brent waits for the rally to begin. He has the sign we made for the friendly picket.

Cibola's cheerleaders wait to do their cheer during the rally.

There were kids from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Deming, Gadsen, Los Lunas, and a few other NM cities.

Students appreciate Governor Richardson for making this the "Year of the Child" in NM.

Caroline Dilts and a friend make a sign that shows how they feel about westside schools.

We all got t-shirts to wear at the rally.

NM Representative, Eric Youngberg, took a group of Cibola kids and parents around the Roundhouse.
