G-Ma's Sugar Cookies

Grandma Jackie makes the best sugar cookies! Here is her recipe!

(NOTE: The Albuquerque grandchildren dubbed her G-Ma)

Preheat oven to 350°.

In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar.  Set aside.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, with the paddle attachment, beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy (about 3 to 4 minutes).  Add the eggs, oil, and vanilla extract and beat until combined.  Add the flour mixture and beat until you have a smooth dough.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls (you may use a 1-inch cookie/ice cream scoop). Place ball of dough on cookie sheet and flatten with non-slotted spatula. After flattening one cookie, spatula will have enough "oil" on it so that sugar will stick to the spatula. Dip spatula into sugar before flattening subsequent balls of dough (colored sugar looks nice).

Bake for 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
