Yes, it's true,
Pam was in a triathlon!!!
December 10, 2005

Let's not let the fact that I only did the swimming leg
of the race tarnish the absolute amazement of this feat.

Pam and 10 other women from my ward entered the
Polar Bear Triathlon at the White Sands Missile Range
 near Las Cruces, NM.

We have been training for about 3 months.
I swam almost everyday and am
realizing that it's the only way to exercise!

I have missed being in the pool and after a 15 year break,
I'm happy to be back in the water!
I may even join a master's swim team
and train to compete in swim meets again.

Here are some pictures to prove it all!

Group pic before leaving ABQ. L-R front: Baby Lincoln,Pam, Sarah Shepherd L-Rback: Amy Jarimillo, Janet Fackrell, Annie Wagner, Mieke Gooch, Adi Snell, Anna, Lori Burrup, Hilary Cardon, Sarah Goolsby, Christine Thayne We stayed the night in Las Cruces, NM so we could get up extra early on Saturday morning. I was on a team with Annie Wagner running first...here she is in red, coming in to tag our biker Hilary Cardon. Adi Snell is right behind her! Everyone swimming had to have their race number drawn on their arm with a HUGE magic marker. Mine didn't come off for 4 days! Here I am waiting for Hilary to come in on her bike. My feet were frozen to the cement! Finally! Here comes Hilary! Now I can run in to the pool and thaw my feet while racing.   This picture does not represent the savageness of the swimming conditions. There were so many people in the pool that I had to swim under people many times to pass them. We're done! Let's do lunch! After the race they held an award ceremony of sorts. Amazingly, 6 of our 12 first time racers placed in their age categories!
